Thoughts on the HODL mentality?

HODL is (obviously) super popular with most investors, and makes the most sense if you’re coming at crypto like the stock market. However, pumping and dumping has become increasingly popular with the current market, and seems to make better money. I’m more of a HODLer, and am interested in hearing your thoughts on what coins could be a good buy/look promising in the long term. I’m sitting on some LINK right now because I’m intrigued by their interoperability tech, and it seems like they have a significant market share on off chain technologies.
