I recently opened a Coinbase account and have been using PayPal for instant cash deposits with no fees. Today I found out that was actually a glitch they fixed last night and they now charge about 2.5%. The only free deposit options are basically ACH.
Which exchange are you using that has free instant cash deposits?

CDC has instant cash deposits with linked banked accounts but they use Plaid so PayPal won’t connect for those types of deposits.
