I just tried to open an account with kraken but it’s not permitted in New York. What is the best platform for New Yorkers to use for day trading both long positions, short positions, margin trading etc… ??

NY is super restricted. Coinbase and Gemini are the main legal options, but they’re limited for margin/shorting. Most serious traders in NY either stick to those or use a VPN for Binance/KuCoin (not legal, but common).
