What if your crypto hardware wallet was hacked before you even opened the box?

Ledger has confirmed finding an unauthorized hardware implant in a device sold through a reseller.

Up to $93M in suspected losses across 311 wallets so far.

This is a classic supply-chain attack.

The reseller, CryptoBilis, also sells Trezor, Tangem and SafePal wallets.

This is the strongest argument for only buying hardware wallets straight from the maker’s own store. Even then, it’s worth running the device’s genuine check on setup and never using a device that arrives with a seed phrase already printed or filled in. If you bought from a third party seller, moving funds to a fresh wallet with a newly generated seed is cheap insurance.
