Am I missing something with XRP?

Am I missing something with XRP? Doesn’t XRP miss the scalability needed to become the backbone of the new financial system? XRP’s max TPS is 1500, for reference VISA can handle 65,000 tps and averages ~1700 TPS. Sure XRP might be able to scale but wouldn’t the financial system choose a different solution which isn’t bottle necked by speed and “might be able to scale in the future”?

Not trying to fud just genuinely curious and very much open to being wrong.
