US Tax requirements for Crypto

I\’m new to the world of crypto. I remember last year when I did my taxes, it asked if I own crypto. Does it require a lot more documentation?

Would Robinhood or Coinbase be better for a beginner?

If I make an account with Robinhood or Coinbase, I\’m assuming they will issue a 1099.
