Why is Crypto.com Giving Me Way Less When I Sell?

Hey everyone,

I’m facing an issue on Crypto.com that doesn’t seem to add up, and I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Here’s the situation:

I purchased $500 worth of official Trump Coin for shits and giggles because Crypto.com was the only platform I could use quickly to catch the pump. Fast forward to now:

  • My coin balance is showing a value of $900.
  • But when I try to sell it, the platform says I’ll only receive $780 USDC.

I understand that there are fees and sometimes a spread between the buy and sell price, but this difference feels way too large. I calculated the numbers myself based on the price the platform is displaying, and it still doesn’t explain the gap. Here’s what I’ve checked so far:

  1. Fees: Crypto.com’s fees are supposed to be 0.1%–0.4%, but even accounting for that, the difference doesn’t make sense.
  2. Slippage: I thought it might be slippage or price impact, but even selling smaller portions results in the same massive gap.
  3. Market Price: I compared the sell price on other platforms, and they’re offering much closer to the actual market value.

So far, Crypto.com’s math doesn’t add up. I’ve reached out to their support team but haven’t gotten a clear response yet. I’m wondering if this is a liquidity issue, a hidden fee, or something else entirely.

Has anyone else experienced this on Crypto.com or other platforms? If so, how did you resolve it? Any advice is appreciated because this difference feels like more than just a normal spread or fee.

Thanks in advance!

crypto.com is shit. Always has been shit. Always will be shit. It is the spread. The sell to you 1%, 2%, sometimes 5% over actual price. The buy 1%, 2%, sometimes 5% below the actual price. The price may need to be 2% to 10% before you even break even. There is no way to avoid it other than don’t use them.
