I honestly want to know what you guys think about coinbasepro as a platform for someone who has never bought bitcoin or any crypto to start

More to the point, fees are awful on coinbase, decent on coinbase pro.

Coinbase/CBPro are just fine. If you are familiar with placing market and limit orders like with stocks, then Coinbase pro will be pretty self explanatory. You can move your holdings back and forth between CB and CBPro for free so you can take advantage of whatever tools you need at the time from either platform, but fees are better on Pro.
